Day 5 - Out with Joy meeting people, and a very nice lunch

I went out with Joy again today, meeting people and taking care of business. It was a long day, out from about 11 AM to 10 PM. We spent a lot of time sitting in traffic, both in trotro's and taxis. On one taxi ride, we decided to just get out and walk. Of course, the cars started moving after that :).

We took a little time off in the afternoon for lunch at Livingstone, a very nice restaurant in the Osu section of Accra run by a French man. Service was great - he made the mushroom sauce for my steak especially for me, with no flour or dairy in it. There were very few people in the restaurant, possibly because we arrived at 3 PM, way after the usual lunch time. The owner greeted us personally when we sat down, and checked with us a couple of times to make sure everything was ok. Joy had lasagna and I had steak and vegetables; both of our meals were excellent. Prices were high for Ghana, but not as high as the "expensive" restaurants. The power went out as we finished our meal. The owner was going out as we were leaving, so he asked us if we wanted a ride. We rode with him for a bit, but he got stuck in traffic, so we got out and walked. I learned of this restaurant from googling "where to eat in Accra." There were some posts about it from last year, but we found out the restaurant had recently moved. The good thing is it was still in the same neighborhood, so we were able to walk to the new location.

In the evening we met with Tang Hong, a successful Chinese businessman whom Joy met five years ago when he donated a couple of air conditioners for the work there. He's a very generous and friendly person, very energetic, and he and his wife are expecting their third child, which is unusual for Chinese people. He's traveling in the next couple of days to New York, to look for property there. We had a good time talking with him.

When we arrived home the power was "half on," meaning the lights were dim and the fans barely turned around. It came on stronger, then suddenly went off. At least the water was running, so we could take showers to wash off the day's sweat and dirt. During the night, the power went back on again, then it went off again, then about 6:30 AM it went on and stayed on.
